A series of visual art workshops recently took place with a group of young artists in Mayo, using online platforms, facilitated by artist Alice Dixon. The participants varied in age (from 4 - 16 years old). There are three groups of young people in total, one of which are a group of young people who are members of Down Syndrome Mayo.
What has shone through this process is the collaborative nature of visual art, and how it can be a medium that creates a very special shared experience even when taking place through an online platform.
With Visual Art being so subjective and personal there are no differences... just Art.
As part of Cruinniú na nÓg - the National day of free Creativity for Children and Young People - the work created by these young Mayo artists is showcased in an online exhibition, here: https://youtu.be/nAvnAm96XI0
By linking these three groups together in an online exhibition, we can really celebrate and demonstrate the power of Art and the meaning it can bring to our lives.
