Mayo-based painter Shane Clyne’s exhibition of new paintings opens at the Ballina Arts Centre this January. Titled Doubt, the exhibition explores the presence of uncertainty in both our everyday lives and, more crucially, in the artistic process.
Through a series of paintings, Clyne demonstrates that by embracing doubt and its correlative fears we open the door to the creation of something new. Without risk, the artistic work becomes too familiar. By surrendering to doubt during the creative process, we allow ourselves to unconsciously edit and deliver a finished piece that is inherently new.
Runs until 29th February. Admission: Free. All welcome.
