Expanding on a series of previous works, 'As Rare as Hen's Teeth' re-imagines urban and rural buildings across the country. Consisting of miniature paintings, the project seeks to document vanishing elements of Ireland's physical and mental landscape. Specifically depicting old shop fronts with residential dwellings above them, the work incorporates sign writing as a way of letting the structures tell their own story.
These brief statements can either be taken at face value, or interpreted on different levels. The exhibition aims to reflect the socio-history of life in townships and cities, as well as the commenting on the changing culture of Ireland.
