Yungchen Lhamo & Donal Lunny
Thursday 12th July, 8pm
Born in the beautiful capital of Lhasa, Yungchen was named by a Tibetan lama after the deity Sarasvati, the Hindu/Buddhist goddess of knowledge and the arts. She learned devotional singing from her grandmother and has emerged as the world's leading Tibetan vocalist. From Sydney Opera House to the spotlight of New York’s Carnegie Hall, her haunting a cappella performances have enchanted audiences in more than 70 countries and garnered critical praise worldwide.
Considered to be one of the more influential people in the renaissance of Irish music since the '70's, Donal Lunny is founding member of several important bands - Planxty, Bothy Band, and Moving Hearts.
Yungchen and Dónal join forces for the first time ever in a show-stopping performance. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the power of Yungchen’s healing voice and Dónal’s magical bouzouki sound.
