Ondes et Miroirs – Camille Lambert

Official Opening: Friday 18th July, 8pm

Ballina Arts Centre is delighted to present this exciting exehibition of work by the late French artist Camille Lambert, to celebrate the links between Ballina and it’s French twin-town Athis-Mons/Juvisy-Sur-Orge. Born in Arlon (Belgium) in 1874, Lambert studied at the Academy of Brussels and after a brief sojourn in Paris, he however settled in Juvisy-sur-Orge in 1919, with his wife, Amanda Laermans. He bought a small hunting lodge where he set up his studio. Lambert had a deep love of nature, and preferred solitude and tranquillity to the Parisian society life, and his work is more redolent of the Post-Impressionists, with a nod to the Symbolists. In 1954, he offered to donate his studio to the town, under the condition that it be devoted to the foundation of a municipal school of painting. Lambert died in September 1964 and is buried alongside his wife in the old graveyard of Juvisy.
